Diary of A Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

Greg records his sixth grade experiences in a middle school where he and his best friend, Rowley, undersized weaklings amid boys who need to shave twice daily, hope just to survive, but when Rowley grows more popular, Greg must take drastic measures to save their friendship.

Other than the fact that my kids are reading and this book makes for great laughs, I do admit there isn't much redeeming value to this book by Jeff Kinney. I do understand why some people hate this book.Greg isn't exactly a great role model - but he sure is funny!

All my children love Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Even my most reluctant reader who never reads has been caught reading several times this week. This book is hysterical. I laughed so many times while reading it. So take it or leave it depending on your preferences. Here at our house this light-hearted, silly book is a HUGE hit. I had to check out 2 copies of each book in this series so everyone had a copy to read because my children were arguing over whose turn it was to read.

Content: Lots of jokes about things like farts & poop. Stuff that makes my 8 year old laugh his head off.

Rating: 5 Stars with a warning. This book isn't for everyone. If you don't like slapstick, goofy humor aimed at young boys this isn't for you.

  3. Every kid I know, both boys and girls, have loved this series. Another good one for reluctant readers or otherwise is Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan. It's Harry Potter crossed with Greek Mythology but not as difficult as Harry Potter.
