Bio:
Janet lives near the Canadian Rockies with her husband and son and the sweet memories of a little dog named Meeko. She does not live in an Igloo or play hockey, but she does love maple syrup and says “eh” a lot.
If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
The future for sure! I’d travel ahead and meet my grandkids (assuming my 10 year old son has children in the future of course)

I am currently working on my third Sourcebooks YA, Just Breathe. It will have a new name but it’s about a girl who accidentally kills a boy she barely knows when she kisses him after eating a peanut butter sandwich --not knowing he has a deadly allergy to peanuts.
Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
My launch party for I’m Not Her was AMAZING. Girlfriends old and new came out to celebrate with me and it was magical and special.
What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
A Wrinkle In Time.
What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Revise revise revise.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Hawaii
When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
An X-Ray technician because that’s what my mom was.
If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play the lead role and why?
Ellen Page because she’s funnier and much cuter than me.
How did you know you should become an author?
I loved writing so much and being published was a dream for me.
Who are your favorite authors of all time?
SE Hinton and Judy Blume
Can you see yourself in any of your characters?
Jaz. Lacey and Mom all have traces of me in them.

What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
I’m really looking forward to Sara Zarr’s new book.
How do you react to a bad review?
Depends on the day and my current state of mind. Laugh or cry.
You have won one million dollars what is the first thing that you would buy?
An I-Pad
What do you do in your free time?
Hang out with my family. We like to go for walks. I spend a lot of time waiting for my son at swimming and like to work out when he swims. And movies. I love movies! And books!
If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
Good Lord What The Hell is Going On Here.
Give us a glimpse into a typical day in your day starting when you wake up till you lie down again.
Wake up. Facebook. Twitter. Email. Make son lunch. Take him to school. Home. Write. Twitter. Facebook. Email. Write. Repeat. Pick up son. Take him to swimming. Exercise while he swims. Home. Chill. Bed.
What's your favorite season/weather?
I love the weather and colors in fall, but really don’t like that it means winter is coming.
How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
A giant piece of chocolate cake. We’re talking GIANT!

What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you'd be embarrassed to admit?
People are embarrassed of reading? I hate when people apologize to me for reading YA or say it’s all they can handle right then. Grrr. But that is another question. I do love Phineas and Pherb. That’s embarrassing, right?
Favorite music?
Happy dance music.Eminem.
In your wildest dreams, which author would you love to co-author a book with?
Libba Bray. I’d be the straight man to her comedian.
