When the King is fatally injured, Azor takes things into his own hands. No one is safe as mers are forced to take sides. Betamers take the blame, including Tatiana’s family’s closest friend, Badger, and the punishment is death.

Young Adult Giveaway Hop Sign Ups

Young Adult Giveaway Hop

January 29th - February 4th

Co-hosted by BookLove101

If you have not hopped with me recently be sure you have reviewed all my hop rules.
http://iamareadernotawriter.blogspot.com/p/giveaway-hop-rules.html

Young Adult Giveaway Hop Rules

  • You must giveaway a young adult book.
  • You may allow the winner a YA book of their choice.
  • If you a giving away a gift card your post must spotlight at least 1 young adult book.
  • This hop has a limit of 6 possible entries.  Only 1 can be mandatory and other must be optional.  Be aware that many people do not have a twitter or facebook account.  If your mandatory entry requires to follow you on twitter or like you on facebook you are automatically excluding people who may want to enter.  Tweet once a day is NOT allowed.
  • Your blog & giveaway must be family friendly.  If you have steamy book covers in your header or sidebar you will be deleted from the linky.  I should be completely comfortable viewing your site with my husband or any one of my 5 children sitting by my side. If in doubt please ask.  I've been a little lax in the past but beginning with this hop I will be much more strict.  For the most part I only judge a book by its cover but if I get a specific complaint about the content of a book (erotica for example) I will remove the giveaway from the linky.
  • Your giveaway must be specifically for the hop.
  • If you are using rafflecopter... Set the rafflecopter to begin accepting entries on JANUARY 28th and to stop accepting entries on February 5thth. Use caution when using weighted entries.  If you mark a task as being worth +10 that counts as 10 entries and will get you deleted from the linky list.  Please see these examples: (Correct Rafflecopter - Unacceptable Rafflecopter).

  • To sign up to host a giveaway add your blog to the linky with your shipping info in parenthesis following your blog name. If you forget I assume you are shipping to the US only and will add (US) after your blog name.

Charity Hopping Around the World - LDS Philanthropies + Amazon.com Gift Card

Welcome to the Charity Hopping Around the World Giveaway Hop
    March 30th to April 4th

    Hosted by:
    I Am A Reader, Not A Writer
    Reading Away the Days
Reading a Little Bit of Everything

Purpose: To promote a charity that you support.

Without a doubt my favorite charity is LDS Philanthropies/Latter-day Saint Charities!

Latter-day Saint Charities helps people become self-reliant and improve their quality of life through initiatives such as clean water, health, and food production. Latter-day Saint Charities also relieves suffering by providing life sustaining support during emergencies.

    Humanitarian Aid Fund
When a disaster occurs, Latter-day Saint Charities sends food, clothing, medical supplies, and other emergency relief assistance to help victims with urgent needs. Advance planning, extensive storage of essential items, and an extensive worldwide network of volunteers, allow a swift response when disaster strikes. These volunteers, working cooperatively with other relief agencies, help ensure that 100 percent of all donations are distributed directly to those in need.

    Clean Water
Working with local community leaders, Latter-day Saint Charities (Humanitarian Services) provides access to clean water with wells and other water systems where no such service is available.

Volunteers from the village provide labor to install and maintain the wells to ensure their long-term operation. Local contractors are employed, and a local site supervisor is appointed to ensure the work is performed as agreed. Each village establishes a water committee to oversee the maintenance of the facilities.

Involving the community helps local people feel an ownership of the project, an important cultural consideration in the long-term use and proper maintenance of the water supply.

    Humanitarian Food Production
Millions of children eat one meal a day because they don’t have enough food. LDS Charities helps families reduce disease related to malnutrition and increase productivity and self-sufficiency with home food production and nutrition training

    Neonatal Resuscitation Training
Our volunteer medical teams provide resuscitation training and equipment to doctors and their assistants in countries where newborn mortality is high. These newly trained medical personnel in turn train other doctors and medical personnel. As a result, thousands of newborn lives are saved. Each project team may work with up to 15 organizations in one country per project. These organizations may include pediatrician associations, midwife organizations, hospitals and clinics, and other community health organizations. Each facility is provided with simple equipment that is used in the resuscitation process.

    Mobility (wheelchairs, artificial legs, etc)
Latter-day Saint Charities (Humanitarian Services), working in partnership with local organizations that serve the disabled, distributes about 40,000 wheelchairs each year in 70 countries. Those who have witnessed a disabled person receiving a wheelchair for the first time report that the joy and tears of gratitude shown by the recipient are often overwhelming.

    Vision Treatment Training
Our response to the enormous problem of preventable/reversible blindness is to train local, qualified medical personnel to perform eye surgeries and provide equipment that is essential to the procedure. Working with local, established medical facilities in developing nations, Latter-day Saint Charities organizes training seminars led by certified ophthalmologists who volunteer their time as trainers. Ultimately, those trained are able to serve hundreds or even thousands of patients over time. Each year we carry out training projects in about ten developing countries.

The dates for this hop are March 23rd - 28th.

This hop features the best Kick-Butt Characters in Young Adult Books.

I have 2 great giveaways today.

    Giveaway #1
My ARC of Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
    Open to US only

    Shatter Me
Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.
In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting asThe Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.

Spring Cleaning Giveaway Hop - 100 Book Giveaway!

My bookshelves are overflowing and reality has hit me hard.  At most I will be able to read another 100 books this year and listen to another 100.  I have hundreds of books on my to read list and more books are released every week.  I decided to organize this spring cleaning giveaway hop as the perfect chance to clean my bookshelf and share some wonderful books with others. I spent an afternoon going through all the books on my shelf and I have a huge box of books I need to pass on to others.

These books are review copies I have already read, books that I have two copies of, books that were sent for review that have been on my shelf too long, books I won in giveaways, books that I started but never finished... basically great books that are in need of a book review & a new home.

Many of these books have already been read and reviewed but some of them have not yet been read. It is really truly hard for me to part with the review copies that I have not yet read. I accepted these books because I WANT to read them. Unfortunately there are just too many books I want to read and not enough hours in the day for me to read them all. If a book has been on my shelf for several months and I haven't gotten to it I feel it is only fair to pass it on to someone who has time to read and enjoy it.

About half of these are ARCs the other half are finished copies. Covers are often different than the image featured below.

There will be a lot of winners. All winners must have a US mailing address.  I've budgeted $75 to pay for shipping.  I'll keep selecting winners until I hit my shipping limit.

Random Winner #1 - This will be a completely random winner. I will submit all entries to random.org and have it choose a winner. That winner will receive their choice of any 10 books listed below.

Random Winner #2 - Also a random winner - They will receive 5 books of their choice from the remaining books.

+1 Bonus Entry if you share this giveaway and leave a link (facebook, twitter, etc.)

    Additional Winners
I'm unsure how many additional winners I will pick but there will be at least 5 more winners who will receive up to 10 books each. To enter simply tell me which books you would like to review, why you are interested in them and where you will post your review. Don't tell me you want any and all of them. I'm looking for reviewers who have an interest in specific titles and are committed to read and review those titles if they receive those books. By entering you are committing to review the books in a timely manner and ensure that you post a review in at least 2 places (your blog, amazon, goodread, barnes & noble, etc.) I will use the random.org to select winners, if any of the books they would like to review are still available they will be sent.

Final Winner - The final winner will receive all the remaining books - To enter you must have a use for the books. Do you work in a small library or at a community service organization that is in need of books? Do you have a good use for the books? To enter this final giveaway just tell me what you would do with the remaining books if you win them. I will use random.org to select a winner from all eligible entries.

I will be shipping out a total of 100 Books!
