Author Interview & Book Giveaway: Will Work for Prom Dress by Aimee Ferris (+ prom bling chandelier earrings)

Welcome to Author Aimee Ferris!
Aimee Ferris left the corporate world after her company made an ill-fated decision to send her to Hawaii on a ten week business trip.  After living in Fiji, she joined a regatta as crew and sailed the South Pacific landing as a PADI divemaster on the Great Barrier Reef, before relocating to the Caribbean to try her hand at training dolphins.  Skydiving, playing a dead body in a dinner theatre, white water rafting, and feeding sharks underwater also made the list of prospective occupations before she settled on a career of making stuff up. She now juggles freelancing for a few dozen national magazines (*where she does not make stuff up), photographing her travel work and writing books, including Girl Overboard in Penguin's (S.A.S.S. series). She lives in New York.

Interview:

Write a haiku about your book.
Snort! The Diet Coke
sprays from my nostrils onto
a hot boy. *Head-desk.

If you were a superhero what would your name be?
The Amazing Procrastinatrix

Skittles or M&Ms?
Both. Skittles for business, M&Ms for party. Kind of like a candy mullet.

What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you'd be embarrassed to admit?
I think I covered that one in my Xtranormal clip. http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/7968729/

Where is your favorite place to write?
Think on Mercer (coffeeshop in NYC). One of my characters is named after a barista there.

If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
“Glug.” Because of all the years spent underwater, not, you know…

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Coffee, with a side of coffee.

Night owl, or early bird?
Night owl. Thus, the coffee.

Is there anything you need in order to write? (ie Chocolate, quiet, music)
Chocolate, I need to live. It’s not writing specific. For writing? My laptop (coffee goes without saying here). I know it makes no sense, but I simply cannot write a thing longhand.

If you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose?
Samuel Clemens, Daniel Pinkwater, Anthony Bourdain, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Tim Riggins Horton (but only if he brought me a double double). There would be spirited discussion, many laughs, perhaps a thrown dinner roll or two, and Lin-Manuel could freestyle rap a running commentary throughout.

What is your favorite sport to watch on TV?
Football. Though nothing beats a baseball game in the ballpark. GO YANKEES!

What do you do when you are in-between books?
Travel. Anywhere I can arrive without a plan…or much money.

What's your favorite music genre?
I spent many incredible years in the islands, so my heart will always thump to a reggae beat. Which I suppose, if literal, would not be a good thing.
