Interview:
If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
The past! I love history and there are so many things I’ve dreamed of seeing with my own eyes: a NY speakeasy in the 1920s, a ball during the Victorian Era, Rome in all of its marbled glory, Cleopatra’s Egypt, Boston right before the Revolutionary War, and so much more! I would never want to see the future because I love the mystery of it. Life would be ruined if you knew exactly where it was going.
If you were a superhero what would your name be?
I’m not sure about me, but if you’ve read Simmer you know that Kira, my main character, was graced with a questionable superhero name – the Flaming Tomato. Intrigued? Need to read my book to find out why!
If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Flying! I absolutely love to travel and I would LOVE to fly! Mind reading is a close second. I think all writers are naturally curious people, and I would love to get into some people’s minds and explore. But in the end, I think it is way too intrusive and sometimes wondering what’s on someone’s mind is exciting!
Night owl, or early bird?
Night owl! I’m scary in the morning…
Pet Peeves?
Abrupt cliffhangers! I seriously despise these in a story!! The mark of a good series is to keep readers wanting more, and part of that is having long-term story lines and mysteries that extend from book to book, but I hate when a book just ends mid-scene or practically mid-sentence. Harry Potter is my go-to for a good example of a series! Each book was a complete story that added to an overarching plot.
Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
There is heart-pumping action, heart-stopping romance, characters you will fall in love with and scenes that will keep you reading until dawn – what else could you want in a book?
Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
Interacting with the few fans that I have! Seriously, it has been surreal! Whenever someone tells me they read my book and loved a character or the story, my heart stops because I am so excited! I hope this is a feeling that will never go away and I am so so grateful to every single person who has taken the chance on my books!
What is your favorite Quote?
Totally random, but it is a quote from The Emperor’s New Groove:
Cusco: "Let me guess. We're about to go over a huge waterfall."
Patcha: "Yep."
Cusco: "Sharp rocks at the bottom?"
Patcha: "Most likely."
Cusco: "Bring it on."
Favorite Candy?
Candy canes! Seriously, they are like a drug to me… I become a candy cane hoarder at Christmastime.
What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
Snow White and the Huntsman! Looks amazing and I love Chris Hemsworth!
What's your favorite season/weather?
Summer! I’m a sunglasses, flip-flops and cotton dress kind of girl!
How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
Imagine a puppy just let out of its crate – tongue hanging out, tale wagging, jumping on all the furniture with bundled up excitement – I think I was the human version of that! My smile was so wide that it hurt and I may have scared people with my enthusiasm!
What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you'd be embarrassed to admit?
I don’t really embarrass easy, so I’ll freely admit that I’ve read some bodice rippers and have a penchant for terrible reality TV (think Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Keeping Up With The Kardashians…), but one movie obsession I’ve kept secret until now is Crossroads! I love Britney Spears and no matter how horrible that movie is, I still adore it!
Ignite: Midnight Fire Series, Book One
With one last look, one final search of the lines of his face for some sign, Kira turned and ran away from the sound of the man she loved laughing in the face of her death.
When Kira Dawson moves to South Carolina, she meets Luke, a blond goofball who quickly becomes her best friend, and Tristan, a mysterious bad boy who sends shivers down her spine. Kira knows they're keeping secrets, but when she discovers Tristan's lust for blood and her own dormant mystical powers, Kira is forced to fight for her life and make the heartbreaking decision between the familiar comfort of friendship and the fiery passion of love.
Simmer: Midnight Fire Series, Book Two
Slowly, like a whisper almost blown away in the wind, two words streaked across her mind: "Kiss me."
Kira may have survived the eclipse, but her troubles are far from over. She's headed to Sonnyville with one goal in mind: to learn more about her parents. But with Luke and Tristan competing for her heart and Diana gunning for her head, time is running out on the search for her mother. And the closer Kira gets to answers, the more terrified she becomes. The conduits fear her, the vampires fear her, and Kira is starting to wonder if maybe they're right...
