Giveaway - Upcoming Release: Never Enough by Denise Jaden

Welcome back to author Denise Jaden.
Denise Jaden spent her high school lunch hours trying to tame her frizzy/curly hair in the bathroom or playing freeze tag in the drama room. She attended the theatre program at college, and then enjoyed a variety of occupations, including stage production, mushroom farming, and Polynesian dancing. The first draft of her debut novel, Losing Faith, was written in 21 days during National Novel Writing Month. This is her second novel. She lives just outside Vancouver, Canada with her husband, son, and an overweight shih tzu.

INTERVIEW:
If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
I assume by “things” you mean not people. So I’d have to say my iPhone, laptop, and a wifi tower.

If you were a superhero what would your name be?
Captain Efficient

Night owl, or early bird?
Sadly, neither. I was an early bird through my teens – always taking early morning classes so I could have a spare during the day. In my twenties, I was a night owl. Now I’m just plain old, I guess.

One food you would never eat?
Apple juice or pea soup. One time my husband and I were invited for lunch, and guess what they served…

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Because you like me and want to make me happy. J

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I’m working on another YA contemporary romance/mystery right now that I’m really excited about. It’s tentatively titled Milano, and it’s about a girl who leaves a class trip with her crush after her best friend has disappeared into the dark and secretive modeling world of Europe.

Is there a song you could list as the theme song for your book or any of your characters?

Sick Cycle Carousel by Lifehouse. It’s my theme song for Claire in Never Enough. If you read the book and listen to the song, you’ll know why.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Tahiti. I’ve been a Polynesian dancer since I was a young child, but I’ve never had the opportunity to see Tahiti.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
An actress. I pursued it for a short time after high school and university, and my inner drama queen will no doubt live on forever.

Who are your favorite authors of all time?
Stephanie Perkins and Tara Kelly. They’re both recently published authors, but they’ve both hooked me so solidly with their writing voices, I’ll read anything either of them ever write.

Can you see yourself in any of your characters?
Loann from Never Enough is like me in a lot of ways. Physically, with the frizzy/curly hair. Emotionally, things hit her hard and she’s very introspective. I think we also share our sense of humor.

How do you react to a bad review?
A lot better than I used to. LOL. Actually, I’ve always been pretty good at taking criticism. I hope to improve my writing skills with every book and I’m always eager to see what does, or doesn’t, connect with different readers.

You have won one million dollars what is the first thing that you would buy?
A vacation for my family and my best friend’s family. We’ve wanted to go away together to somewhere with palm trees (Tahiti?) forever, but it hasn’t worked out so far.

What do you do in your free time?
What free time? LOL. I homeschool my son, I’m involved with my Polynesian dance troupe, I do the books for my husband’s business, and I write. I consider reading my main “fun” and chill-time in life.

What's your favorite season/weather?
Summer. Ahhhh, summer.

How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
I had some friends staying with me at the time, and they brought home a bottle of champagne.

If you had 24 hours alone how would you spend it?
Writing and reading. Seriously, I never feel like I have enough time for either.

Facebook or Twitter?
Twitter, baby. Come find me @denisejaden …I’m always there.

Favorite quote from a movie?
“I don think that word means what you think it means.” – The Princess Bride

Never Enough - Coming July 10, 2012.
An unattainable beauty. A life-threatening secret.
Loann's always wanted to be popular and pretty like her sister, Claire. So when Claire's ex-boyfriend starts flirting with her, Loann is willing to do whatever it takes to feel special…even if that means betraying her sister.
But as Loann slips inside Claire's world, she discovers that everything is not as it seems. Claire's quest for perfection is all-consuming, and comes at a dangerous price. As Claire increasingly withdraws from friends and family, Loann struggles to understand her and make amends. Can she heal their relationship—and her sister—before it's too late?

#BIR2010 - Book Giveaway: Losing Faith by Denise Jaden + Interview

Denise Jaden's debut novel Losing Faith was released September 7th by Simon Pulse.

I've got a great interview with Denise and then a copy of her book Losing Faith to giveaway.

If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
Definitely to the future. I’m much more excited to see what will become of our world than where it has been.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
iPhone, laptop, and an unlimited supply of chocolate.

If you were a superhero what would your name be?
Super Hula-Girl

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Mindreading would be cool.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Mocha Java Madness

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
My everyday breakfast is a simple protein shake. I can’t stomach much in the morning.

Is there anything you need in order to write? (ie Chocolate, quiet, music)
A cup of piping-hot green tea.

Night owl, or early bird?
Neither. I like to sleep. A lot.

One food you would never eat?
Pea soup. Or apple juice. Blech.

Pet Peeves?
Wet socks. Being cold.

Skittles or M&Ms?
Peanut M&M’s

How do you react to a bad review?
Throw things, swear, jump up and down. You know, the usual. Just kidding, I’ve actually been pretty blessed in being showered with many, many good reviews, and the bad ones haven’t stung too, too bad. Except there was one that made me cry…

What do you do when you are in-between books?
I’m never in between books. Seriously. I have several books in various stages of revision, and when I finish working on one, I generally start on another the very next day. At the most, I might take a weekend off.

Where is your favorite place to read/write?
I really like to write at home, either in my office or in the living room in front of the fire.
