Bio:
Julia E. Antoine began writing at the age of 19. She formerly wrote short stories for the local radio station in her home town, which were read on the air at story time. She gave up writing when she moved to the United States, to attend college, where she has since earned several degrees, including two Masters and a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University in Boston. During the course of her schooling, she has written and published a working curriculum for a career school, as well as other literary work. A year ago she revisited her first love, writing for fun and enjoyment, and has not stopped since. She has written several children's books, including three romance novels. However, her greatest love is writing about the Caribbean Islands and their many, varied, and interesting people.
She is currently administrator of a career school in Connecticut and the President of a non-profit organization, Professional Wardrobe, which dresses individuals for job interviews. Ms. Antoine is very active in her community and is always willing to assist and help someone in need.

If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
I would most definitely go back to the past. I like the past and the way some things were, not everything, but some things. For example, I do not like the way killing and raping have escalated, and the role the Internet is playing in our lives in terms of isolating us from each other and enticing us with the allure of the electronic screen
If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?
My father. My father died when I was in my early teens and I miss him every day. I had a very close relationship with him. I would like to meet him so he could tell me how he died, and what is it like where he is now.
What is one book everyone should read?
I would have to say, the Bible. It has something for everyone.
Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Too Clever, is a great addition to a child’s education because it introduces many subjects in a fun and interesting way.
Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
Yes. I am currently working on a paranormal romance. This is my first venture into that genre, and I do not know how it will be received. I do know; however, I do not like writing in that genre. I get into my characters and I was beginning to believe I was experiencing the things that were taking place in the book. I don’t believe I will write another one in a hurry, if ever.
What inspired you to want to become a writer?
My insatiable love of reading, and in my arrogance, I thought I could do better than some of the authors I would read. I got very annoyed if the book did not engage me totally.
Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
Being part of the AAUW convention in Washington DC and being able to be included in the “Meet The Author” event. It was gratifying to be part of that group of over 800 women trying to make a difference. The entire experience was uplifting and rewarding, at the same time. I met several authors at the signing.
What is your favorite Quote?
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt
This was my mantra to my students when I was a teacher. I found they needed the pep talk now and then to keep them going.
Who are your favorite authors of all time?
Virginia Henley and Elizabeth Lowell. I had given up on reading for relaxation, as I used to do, from childhood, because of the volume of course work I had to do for school. Then about seven years ago, I picked up one of Virginia Henley’s novels, and I have not stopped reading since. I went on to read every one of her books and then started on Lowell and did the same with her, until she switched genres and I no longer follow her. Also, my repertoire had grown considerably.
If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
The over-achiever
What's your favorite season/weather?
Spring. I love the spring time because I love to see the new buds on the trees and the crispness in the air. I have two dogwood trees in my front lawn, and I love watching them go from green buds to pink flowers and finally to white. I love the growing season.
How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
I sold my first book at a fair in Mystic, Connecticut, and went out to dinner that night after the fair. It was not a lot of money, but it was the entire concept of me being a published author, which prompted the celebration.
Hidden talent?
I am an excellent cook. I take it for granted, until I happen to prepare something for friends or relatives and they express their surprise at my ability. According to them, they never envisioned me standing behind a hot stove.
If you were a bird, which one would you be?
Most definitely a hawk. Why you ask. I have tried to cultivate the mentality of this bird’s ability to be a survivor: aggressive, adaptive and opportunistic. I see what I want and I go for it.
Favorite places to travel?
Europe. Anywhere in Europe, but I especially love England. I love that they have flowers rather than lawns, and when you did see the lawn is always a bright green. I love that I could pick apples from the trees while walking on the street and no one kicks up a fuss. I love a good English Breakfast, it is out of this world.
Favorite music?
Classic Rock. It affects me on a cerebral level. I go to another place anytime I hear a classic rock song.
In your wildest dreams, which author would you love to co-author a book with?
Lisa Kleypas. She is a very passionate writer, and I have yet to read a book by her that I outright did not love … there may be certain degrees of variation in the love, but love them all I do.
