Interview:
Night owl, or early bird?
Definately early bird. Maybe I'm getting old, but for the life of me, I can't stay up past 11:30.
Pet Peeves?
Loud eaters. I've been known to throw food at a person or two because of their loud chomping.
Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book?
Not only is it entertaining, but it has a great, uplifting, message about hope and the resiliency of the human spirit.
Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I am startng to do research for another novel now, which I think is going to be really amazing. I need to brush up on my knowledge of submarines and the navy first since the mail main character is going to be a naval officer (my dad's going to be in heaven). I also have a YA novel, Freedom Road, which I already wrote but needs some tweeking and rewriting. It will definately be out by the end of the year.
Tell us your most rewading experience since being published?
My husband brought my book to work and a coworker saw it. He lent it to her to read during her shift and she couldn't put it down. The next day she was thrilled that he left it there for her and even took it home with her that night to finish. She said, "I'm going to buy the book for myself, I swear, but I just have to finish it now. I can't wait." That is why I'm doing this, it's what I want out of writing--for people to love my books, for them to be engrossed in them, to stay up late at night reading them. When someone loves my work, it puts a smile on my face.
What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
It's sad to say, but I absolutely loved the Girl Talk series when I was a kid.
What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Be patient. This is he hardest thing, even for me.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would either want to live in the Outer Banks, NC on the water. I love it there!! Or in a villa in Tuscany like Diane Lane in Under The Tuscan Sun. Wouldn't that be awesome?
What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
I can't wait until The Help, the movie comes out because I loved the book. I'm also anxiously awaiting The Wild Rose by Jennifer Donnelly because I love her books.
Give us a glimpse into a typical day, starting when you wake up, till you lie down again?
I wake up when my daughter, my youngest, tells me it's time to start the day. I then feed my daughter, myself, and my son when he gets up, if he decides he's going to eat breakfast that day. I make meals throughout the day, play with my kids, spend time with my husband, pretty normal and ordinary stuff. I also squeeze writing and social networking into any tiny crevice of time I can find between chasing kids and changing diapers.
Waiting on Hope by T.M. Souders
Ten years ago, Lexie Dodson fled her home in rural Ohio, leaving behind a heartbroken brother and abandoning a devastated fiancé. While chasing her desire of a fast paced life in the city, and the obscurity of urban life, she is shaken to her very core by an act of violence that leaves her betrayed, broken, and pregnant--and with nowhere to go but home.
Seeking refuge and facing gut wrenching decisions, she is confronted not only with the past she left behind, but also with a love that never died--a love waiting for something to stoke the flames.
