Book Giveaway & Author Interview: Wedlocked by Bonnie Trachtenberg

Welcome to Author Bonnie Trachtenberg
Bio:
Bonnie Trachtenberg graduated from New York University with a major in Film and Television Production. She promptly found a job on a B movie you never heard of. Four days later she retired from her film career after working the craft service truck and throwing her back out while attempting to lift a man-sized coffee urn.Realizing she was meant to be a writer, Bonnie worked 4,749 crappy jobs (give or take) on two coasts before being published in a national magazine. Her writing career then took her from the health and fitness field to the entertainment industry to journalism and public relations before she landed her dream job as Senior Staff Writer/Copy Chief at Book-of-the-Month Club. There, she wrote hundreds of book reviews and hobnobbed with the literati. At this time, she also began work on her first novel.Five years later, Bonnie was laid off along with 500 of her colleagues after a corporate takeover. She did not despair, but instead took it as a sign from the heavens that it was time to finally finish her freaking book already. She did. Her debut novel, Wedlocked, was released this June. A second is in the works.Bonnie lives on Long Island with her husband Mitchell Silbowitz. The two were high school friends who met up again in 2003, renewed their friendship and then fell in love. She has three stepchildren and four irresistibly cute cats.

Interview:

If you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose?
Gloria Steinem since she is so wise and strong and one of my favorite people of all time.
Nora Ephron because she’s such a wonderful, funny writer and she wrote When Harry Met Sally, my favorite romantic comedy.
Javier Bardem, so I could gaze into his gorgeous face and speed up my heart rate without exercise.
Stephen Colbert, because I think he’s one of the funniest men alive.
Jack Hanna, in hopes he’d bring some baby tigers with him!

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
Pepperoni pizza
Fine wine
And a working helicopter with a pilot.

What is one book everyone should read?
What God Wants-I think it might stop some of this crazy fighting over religion.

If you were a superhero what would your name be?
Catwoman—or is that already taken?

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Psychic ability

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Cookie dough

If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?
Paul Newman—a beautiful man inside and out.

One food you would never eat?
Rabbit

Pet Peeves?
I don’t like when people touch gross things and then try to touch me.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Wedlocked will make you laugh, fall in love with the characters, and wish for it to last longer.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I’ll soon be publishing a humor gift book called The Fine Art of Delusional Thinking: Happiness Means Never Having to Have a Reality Check. I’m also finishing up my second novel, also a romantic comedy.

Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
The best reward is hearing how much people love the book and how many of them read it twice!

What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
The Borrowers

What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Learn as much as you can about social marketing and then spend as much time as possible doing it.

What is your favorite Quote?
If you will it, it is no dream.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
Either a ballerina or an undercover cop.

If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play the lead role and why?
Wedlocked was based on my life and the protagonist, Rebecca Ross, is really me. I’d love to see it as a movie starring Reese Witherspoon, because she’s so endearing and funny.

What's the best advice anyone has ever given you?
To leave my first husband and not look back.

Favorite Candy?
Godiva chocolate truffles

What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
The Help

You have won one million dollars what is the first thing that you would buy?
A new kitchen

Which authors have influenced you most and how?
Jennifer Weiner, Laura Zigman and Susan Isaacs because they combine great characters, engrossing stories and lots of humor.

Who or what inspired you to become an author?
Working as senior writer and copy chief at Book-of-the-Month club for five years with great colleagues gave me the confidence and inspiration to write my own book.

What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you'd be embarrassed to admit?
Housewives of New York

Wedlocked by Bonnie Trachtenberg
On what should be the happiest day of her life, Rebecca Ross is panic stricken. Rebecca has just wed Craig Jacobs, but she realizes she put more thought into choosing her florist than she did in choosing the man she’s just pledged to love for the rest of her life.
Before Craig, Rebecca, a talented Long Island girl, dreamed of following in her grandmother’s footsteps with an acting career. Unfortunately, she was cut down to size by years of disap
pointment, and by her first love—a Hollywood director. She returned to Long Island a lost and broken woman, and ended up in the last place she ever wanted: her old bedroom at her parents’ house.
But Rebecca’s mother, an overzealous convert to Judaism, has a long held dream too: marry off her three daughters to Jewish men. So no one is more thrilled than her when Rebecca meets and marries bon vivant Craig Jacobs, the man who has won over the whole family. Too bad they’re all about to discover that underneath his charismatic shell, this Prince Charming is anything but!
This unputdownable romantic comedy will amuse and enthrall you from angst-ridden start to glorious finish.
