Wendi Sotis, the author of two novels and several short stories taking Jane Austen's beloved characters on journeys in new directions, graduated from Adelphi University with a degree in psychology. Sotis resides on Long Island, New York, with her husband and triplets. Her second novel will be published by spring of 2012.

If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
I'd be interested in going to either, but if I could only chose one, I'd choose to go back and meet Jane Austen.
If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
A very well stocked Kindle, a laptop so I can write, and some sort of solar powered recharger that fits both.
What is one book everyone should read?
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen without a doubt.
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Mint chocolate chip.
Night owl, or early bird?
A night owl who has triplets, so I'm forced to be an early bird!
One food you would never eat?
Shellfish!

I have another book just about to publish called Dreams and Expectations, and I'm working on another. I have three ideas for others.
Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
That people are really interested in my book! I only did it because I won a free proof copy, and I was going to print three for my kids, but a couple of friends talked me into making it available to the public and putting it out in ebook format as well.
What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
All the Nancy Drew books and Little House books. As a teen, I loved the Flowers in the Atticseries.
When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
A writer and a mother. My dream has come true!
What do you do in your free time?
Free time? What's that?
Print or Ebook?
I broke down and got an ebook reader when I hurt my shoulder. I still can't hold a book anymore, so I only get ebooks now, except for signed copies.
Adopting characters from Jane Austen's much loved tale, this novel takes the Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy on a much different journey than Austen originally had in store for them in Pride and Prejudice.
Through their fathers' friendship, Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy meet as children. Over the years, their feelings for each other grow and they promise themselves to each other, but unfortunate circumstances and interfering family members seek to keep them apart.
Will misunderstandings and mistaken impressions divide Elizabeth and William forever?

triplets ... free time ... I soooo get that - didn't have triplets, but my twins came home the day my baby was 10 months old - so they are all the same age for 2 months of the year - is that close enough to qualify? oh, did I mention there were already two others that were in K and 2nd grade?

I'm like Nina, I cannot imagine writing with triplets, much less having the time to do so. No wonder you ask 'what is free time?' The book sounds very good. Congratulations on getting them published. ReplyDeleteI too am a night owl that is sometimes forced to be an early riser when I have my grandchildren on a school night. That is fun though.
