Marta Szemik is an author and a writer. As a mom of two and a wife she enjoys using her family's attributes in her writing - just because they are unique:) A great skier (in her kids eyes), she loves the outdoors. Very often she can be found creating new worlds in front of her computer. Her favourite pass-time is sitting on the front porch with a cup of coffee. Powerful writing with colorful characters who make you cry, laugh and wish they were real intrigue her. She has a sarcastic sense of humor and those close to her know that she can make a joke out of almost anything, but she could never do stand up comedy.

Interview:
If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
Past. I'd invest in Microsoft and Google and become good buddies with Mark Zuckerberg. The unknown (future) scares me.
If you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose?
Stephenie Meyer - because she inspired me to write
Derek Hough - because I love DWTS and he's my favourite.
Jeff Probst - to convince him to let me be on survivor (as Canadians we cannot apply)
Madonna - because it's Madonna
William and Kate - (I know that's 6, but they can be considered as 1, right?) to dine with cool royalty
What is one book everyone should read?
The Hobbit
If you were a superhero what would your name be?
Wonder Woman, but only because I'm a woman and I wonder often.
What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Does coffee count as food?
Night owl, or early bird?
Definitely early bird. It's when the brain is nice and fresh, ready to create.
One food you would never eat?
If it's for survivor I'd eat anything. If real life, I couldn't introduce anything that's alive to my mouth.
Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
To experience adventure, fear, triumph, and love, and keep the characters of Two Halves with you for long after you stop reading.
Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
Yes, a sequel for Two Halves, another fiction novel (dystopian), an urban fantasy and a novella. So, by the end of 2012 I'd like to have 5 pieces available. After that, I'll continue writing, probably first expanding on the dystopian novel because the characters are very cool.
What inspired you to want to become a writer?
Stephenie Meyer's Bio. After seeing Twilight, I found her website, red her bio and I knew I wanted to write. Next morning, Two Halves was born.
Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
My kids seeing their names in the dedication and thanking me for making them famous:)
If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world.. which would it be?
Any of the Lord of the Rings books. Middle Earth is way cooler than Earth.
What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Keep writing and perfecting your art.
If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play the lead role and why?
Helen Hunt, because I've been stopped in the mall and told I look like her. *blushing*
Hidden talent?
I am a very good skier. And I would never say it unless it was true. When I ski, I feel it in my bones:)
What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
Looking forward to Hunger Games. It's been so long since I read the books, I think I need to re-read it before the movie comes out in March.
Two Halves
Twenty-one-year-old Sarah is a child of a human mother and a vampire father and has suppressed her dark side with serums. The only memory of her mother is when Sarah killed her, soon after birth. Of her father, nothing—just a hatred for his vampire traits that made her kill her own mother.
When a disturbing nightmare foretelling her bleak future stirs the superhuman traits, underworld creatures are beaconed. On the run with William, a man she knows from her dreams, Sarah tries to learn what’s been hidden from her, for a good reason. Had she known her destiny, she may have continued with the serums that kept her hidden.
