You should read my book if you like gothic fiction, if you aren't bothered by a little death and some disgusting plague, and a smattering of debauchery, if you like glittering parties, and don't mind a bit of romance, betrayal, or rebellion.

What's the craziest writing idea you've had?
The idea to retell Poe's Masque of the Red Death, and make it a little steampunk, a little horror, a little speculative fiction, a little bit dystopian, and a lot post-apocalyptic. That's a crazy idea if I ever heard one!

Everything is in ruins.

So what does Araby Worth have to live for?
Nights in the Debauchery Club, beautiful dresses, glittery make-up . . . and tantalizing ways to forget it all.
But in the depths of the club—in the depths of her own despair—Araby will find more than oblivion. She will find Will, the terribly handsome proprietor of the club. And Elliott, the wickedly smart aristocrat. Neither boy is what he seems. Both have secrets. Everyone does.
And Araby may find something not just to live for, but to fight for—no matter what it costs her.

ReplyDeleteMasque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin is a little hard to put into words. It's a dark and intense book with contagions and Victorian times and slightly steampunkish and gothic themes. Basically - Masque of the Red Death isn't a book that's usually something I'm into. So if you're kind of like me and not really into that stuff - you should read Masque of the Red Death anyway.
