Author Interview & Ebook Giveaway: Sucker for a Hot Rod by Joselyn Vaughn

Welcome to Author Joselyn Vaughn

Bio:

I live in the Great Lakes State with my adoring husband, three energetic and ambitious toddlers, and two of the laziest beagles. I believe there is nothing better than a warm hug, a good romance novel and chocolate. When not changing diapers or removing a toddler from a precarious situation, I enjoy sewing, running, shopping at thrift stores and reading books longer than thirty pages. I have two other published books: CEOs Don't Cry and Courting Sparks.

Interview:

Pet Peeves?
Lately it’s been cigarette butts that are anywhere but in a proper receptacle. Especially at the parks or in our yard where my children play.  The little one picks up everything and puts it in her mouth. Gross.  If you’re going to smoke, throw your butts in an ashtray.

Skittles or M&Ms?
Definitely M&Ms. Especially the ones with pretzels or peanut butter in the center.  Yummy.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
A really smooth creamy chocolate. I wouldn’t turn it down if it had fudge or brownie chunks.

What is one food you would never eat?
Bananas. I got carsick after eating one once and can barely stand the smell of them.  My daughters love them and I just about gag peeling one for them. I also have an aversion to zucchini that is about the same.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I am working on a story involving the owner of the bed and breakfast from my first book, CEOs Don’t Cry.  It’s got plumbing problems, ghost hunters and old boyfriends and so far has been a lot of fun.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
I always hoped to become a writer, but it was one of those ideas that seemed too good to be true.  It’s been quite exciting to actually have it happen.  I have also been a reference librarian which is a great job.  You get to spend a lot of time researching questions for people and learning all kinds of things.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Reading an actual paper book.  I don’t get much time to sit and relax.  My kids keep my running most of the day, so if I get to read it’s on my iPod.  Reading a book is super special.

Give us a glimpse into a typical day in your day starting when you wake up till you lie down again.
My kids wake up sometime between 6:30 and 7:00, but I don’t get up until my husband gets out of the shower at 7:15.  I take a shower while the kids get dressed, theoretically.  In actuality, I get dressed then convince them to pick out clothes.  This could take minutes or hours depending for my daughter on how many coordinating light pink things she can find. Once that battle is over, we head to the next one: breakfast. This one involves finding bowls to match shirts and keeping the majority of the food moving from bowls to mouths instead to floor and dogs.  After breakfast, the kids play nicely and I get some housework done.  Oh, sorry, I was dreaming for a moment there.  Sometimes they play relatively fight-free acting out stories with cars and Bob the Builder storylines.  The little one traipses around with a variety of purses, necklaces and one dress up shoe. There are snacks and potty trips in there until lunch arrives.  After lunch, they “rest” and I tackle my social media/ promotional stuff.  I’ve tried writing during this time, but listening to Bob the Builder and Angelina Ballerina are too distracting.  If the weather is nice, we go outside after rest time.  They ride their bikes or play in the sandbox.  I can’t wait for the weather to get nicer so we can do more of this.  They go to bed shortly after supper, so I either go for a run and try to get some writing in.  Some mornings we make treks to the library or the park depending on the weather.

What was your favorite children's book?
Of books I remember reading when I was little, Anne of Green Gables. I loved Anne.  Favorite books to read to my kids: any Fancy Nancy book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day and any of the Charlie and Lola books or anything by Sandra Boynton.  Awesome.

What's your favorite season/weather?
I love autumn.  All the colors from the leaves changing and the briskness in the air. Something about it being harvest time, not that I’m a gardener or anything even close, is enticing as well.

She worms her way into his heart and entices him to want more from his life. When health issues causes his father to retire, Bryce inherits the family-owned tractor repair shop. 17. Lisagk - thankfully the neighbors that chucked their butts in our driveway have moved away. It drove me nuts every time we went out to ride bikes.

  19. mfallon - It's how I tried to get my future husband's attention. He lived across the hall and I was always asking if he would come and fix our tv. It never worked though. One of his roommates always answered the door.
