One of my friends just had her blog removed by blogger because they labeled it as spam. It's a good reminder to me to back up my blog!
There are lots of sites online that easily explain how to do it. It is so simple to do in blogger.
Go to your blogger dashboard
Click on Settings
Click on Other
Click on Export Blog
Click Download Blog
If you are in wordpress I can't help but a simple search will show you lots of sights showing you how to do it.
Also I did purchase a custom domain for my blog through blogger. I may choose a different domain name eventually but for now this is what I have:
I didn't want my full blog name because it is too long so I just used the first part of it.
There are a few things on my blog that are not working properly yet such as the Search gadget but hopefully soon everything it will all work.
Still unsure about how it works but it's something I've been going to do for a long time and finally did since blogger has made it so easy and so cheap to do.
For now http://iamareadernotawriter.blogspot.com still works too!

Thanks for the reminder!!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, everything will start working soon enough. Took me about a week when I switched to a new domain for all the kinks to work out. It just takes a while, is all.
ReplyDeleteGreat information, thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy! I didn't realise that I could actually download my blog, that'd be easier if I wanted to transfer to Wordpress or another blogger. Btw how does it work if Blogger deletes your blog, do you need to pay for your blog to get re-designed again?
ReplyDeleteLastly did you use the Blogger Custom Domain or did you sign up with someone else?
You can also download your template. Click on template and then in the upper right corner you can back up your template.
ReplyDeleteI did purchase my domain through blogger - everything is done for you that way. The only thing that is currently not working is my search box. I think they use godaddy to buy the domain ($10) and they then host your for free so the only cost is $10.
Great info. Well done Kathy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information. I made a backup of both my blog and my template. What are the pro's of having your own domian name instead of using .blogspot ?
ReplyDeleteOne PRO is that you can have a shorter easier to type blog name.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that this could happen! I'm kind if new to this so thank you for warning me!
