Author Interview & Book Giveaway: The Book Blogger's Cookbook by Christy Dorrity

Welcome to Author Christy Dorrity

Christy Dorrity loves to read about cooking and cook about reading. She was taught early to have a discriminating taste for both books and food. Christy grew up on a trout ranch in Star Valley, Wyoming. She taught elementary school and lives in the mountains with her husband Devon and their five young children. When Christy's not reading or writing, she's probably trying out a new recipe in the kitchen.

Interview:
What inspired you to want to become a writer?
I’ve always wanted to write and I kept pages and pages of story-filled notebooks as a kid. Somewhere along the way I got the impression that being an author was not a good goal to shoot for and I put the idea aside. When I became pregnant with my fifth (and last) child, I felt the pen calling to me again and started the juices flowing.

Night owl, or early bird?
Both. I wish I didn’t have to sleep. I try to wring every last minute out of the day.

What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
I absolutely loved Anne of Green Gables. She’s so dramatic and wears cool clothes and has red hair.

If you could choose only one time period and place to live, when and where would you live and why?
I really do love living in this time and place. But if I could live somewhere/when else, I would be a pioneer in the 1800’s. I romanticize that era and I am sure that I would be appalled by how much manual work I would have to do. But I’ve always felt certain that I could be a strong pioneer woman and conquer the West.

If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why?
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It is my favorite book and her only published work. I love to decorate my house with books and I would frame it and display it in my living room.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I grew up on a trout ranch in Wyoming and spent my summers gutting fish.
