Interiew:
If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
The past. Definitely. In college, I actually majored in
Medieval Studies because I had this fascination with King Arthur, and knights,
and things like that. I’m not sure why I thought that major was a good
idea--apparently there’s not a lot of job openings for people who can recite
Chaucer by heart. (Although you do see a little bit of that fascination peeping
through with the Lady of Shalott/ Lancelot references in LIES BENEATH.)
If you could have any superpower what would you
choose?
I’d love
to be able to fly. I used to have very vivid flying dreams when I was
little--so vivid I’d wake up and think they were real. I went to my first day
of Kindergarten with a super disgusting black eye because I thought I could fly
from the top of the steps down to the breakfast table. Turns out I couldn’t.
One food you would never eat?
Eggplant. I’m a pretty adventuresome eater,
but my aversion to eggplant has never left me. Even the name gives me the
willies.
Pet Peeves?
Slow
talkers. They. drive. me. up . . . the wall.
Any other books in the works? Goals for future
projects?
Right
now I’m editing the sequel to LIES BENEATH, which is titled DEEP BETRAYAL. It’s
a continuation of the story, but told from Lily’s point of view. Then I’ve got
a third book to finish out the trilogy. After that, I’ll be working on
something completely different. Not sure what yet. I’ve got a couple ideas in
the hopper--probably something related to Ireland.
Lies Beneath
Calder White lives in the cold, clear waters of Lake Superior, the only brother in a family of murderous mermaids. To survive, Calder and his sisters prey on humans, killing them to absorb their energy. But this summer the underwater clan targets Jason Hancock out of pure revenge. They blame Hancock for their mother's death and have been waiting a long time for him to return to his family's homestead on the lake. Hancock has a fear of water, so to lure him in, Calder sets out to seduce Hancock's daughter, Lily. Easy enough—especially as Calder has lots of practice using his irresistable good looks and charm on ususpecting girls. Only this time Calder screws everything up: he falls for Lily—just as Lily starts to suspect that there's more to the monsters-in-the-lake legends than she ever imagined. And just as his sisters are losing patience with him.
