Welcome to Author Angela Brown
Born and raised in Little
Rock, AR, Angela now calls Central Texas home.
Reading and writing have been lifelong passions. It was around the time she gave birth to her forever-love, nicknamed Chipmunk, that she really took writing seriously. After all, how could she teach her child to follow her dreams if she hadn't tried herself?
As a YA fantasy/sci-fi reader and author, she favors the magical, mysterious, the darker side of life...even harbors a secret fright for things that go bump in the night.
NEVERLOVE is a special project spawned from a blog-challenge-turned-blog-opera, the Abby and Basil affair. It is the first in the Shadow Jumpers series.

Interview
If you were a superhero what would your name
be?
Ren, short for
Renaissance Girl J
If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Neverlove will touch your heart, engage your mind and call to your soul,
making it a good read for cuddling beneath the blankets, sipping on your
favorite beverage and unwinding from your day.
Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
Yes. Working on the
sequel for Neverlove along with a
middle grade fairy tale retelling where I hope to complete the first drafts of
both by the beginning of Feb 2013.
What was your favorite book when you were a teen?
The Chronicles of Narnia has always been my re-read go-to since my
teen years. C.S. Lewis is amazing.
Is there a song you could list as the theme song for your book or any of your characters?
“Somewhere I Belong”
by Linkin Park would be Abigail’s theme song. Its lyrics speak to what she goes
through in the novel and speaks to her soul like a melody of her life.
What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Never give up and fight
for your dreams are somewhat standard and will always be true. Along that vein,
I’d like to advise aspiring authors to embrace the callouses. Odd thing to say,
but consider the calloused hand that works the garden or the field with all
their energy, all their might, devoting their time to pulling weeds and
presenting the very best they can. Or consider the master swordsman whose time
spent practicing with the weapon of their art, had blistered fingers and palms
that healed and calloused over to endure for the fight, to champion their
cause. Your work, your writing, is definitely a champion cause. So embrace the callouses.
What is your favorite quote?
“You may never know
what results come of your action, but if you do nothing there will be no
result.” ~ Mahatma Ghandi
Can you see yourself in any of your characters?
Abigail has a bit more
spunk to her than I do but there are a few faves of hers that are faves of
mine, like my love of all things Hayao Miyazaki and dark chocolate lol!!
Favorite Candy?
If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
Her Sanity Still
Remains…Sort Of
Favorite childhood book?
I enjoyed reading Ramona as a kid. She was so much braver
in the books than I was in real life J
How did you go about publishing your book?
Self-publishing my novel, Neverlove, came about as a response to a friend who was also
self-publishing her novel. I’d done some research on self-publishing options so
I wasn’t completely blind, but there’s still a lot for me to learn. My friend (Gwen Gardner, author of Givin’
Up the Ghost) and I partnered up to separately publish but
jointly launch and promote our novels. It was the best idea as it gave us each
other to bounce ideas off of, professional edit assistance and help with the
physical publishing. I also have Heather McCorkle to thank as she is the cover artist for Neverlove and her handy formatting for
the e-book version.
Who or what inspired your last book?
Reader response to my Abby and Basil blog opera
for the A to Z blogging challenge 2012 inspired the novel. I did not have
original intentions for this story, just an idea for a theme for the blogging
challenge. It grew into something readers enjoyed and they wanted to know more.
Hence, Neverlove.
Coke or Pepsi?
Wild Cherry
Pepsi!!!!!
Horror or Romance?
Romance
Action or Drama?
I’m such an action junkie
Harry Potter or Twilight?
Harry
Potter all the way
PC or Mac?
I’m a PC
Beach or Pool?
Give me the beach with its warm, calming sands. Le sighJ
